Conference topics, objectives and presenters

The topics are related to sustainable construction and furnishing of tourist facilities, new materials and shapes, while putting a special emphasis on ingenious projects that the audience may not have the chance to see live because of their everyday obligations. The top experts in the field of architecture and design present a real challenge for the professionals, because they will be able to directly hear about the brave and unusual architectural projects that offer different perspectives and defy generally known rules, characteristics and styles.

The Conference objective is to take the audience to all those places and times that they would usually not get the chance to visit and inspire a different way of thinking when it comes to design – the way of thinking that ensures sustainability and beauty of the human space. It will be particularly interesting to find out about the investment trends and see an overview of regional potentials in which an exceptional increase in construction is expected in a short period of time.

19.10.2019 Forum: Communication in tourism - steps for success

Organizer: Croatian interiors within the furniture fair for tourism, Design District

Venue: Rovinj, area of the old factory, hall 5, conference hall
Target audience: hoteliers, renters, tourism workers

About the Forum

A word, a look, a smile, a comfortable sofa, scented towels, signature furniture – these are all ways of communicating with a guest who is looking for respect, the stamp of a destination and an unforgettable vacation.

Croatia has a shortage of hotels and, in general, a shortage of tourist facilities that “tell stories”, so renters should be encouraged to become brave, to become (small) hoteliers. Hotels that are in trend today are frugal, ecological and oriented towards providing innovative services and opportunities to the urban guest with whom a good relationship needs to be established. The world is returning to natural materials, environmental preservation, original dishes, original settings. That is why you should know that the most important thing is to communicate honestly and openly with guests, showing that they are important to us, welcome, that we want them to come back and that we care about their opinion.

If he will hear a greeting in his own language, see a radiant look and fall asleep in a comfortable bed – we have already done half the work. And if, upon returning home, they will write a good review and recommend to their friends that they also treat all the senses in your facility, you have become one of those who place domestic tourism among the best.

This year’s Forum is an education for all of us – how to communicate well and at the same time send a message of welcome, in various ways: face to face, online, interior, luxury, ecology – everything that is good for man, for our guest. What kind of hotel to build, not to spend too much, but not to skimp because it is immediately visible, how to get financial support – in short, how to proceed – better and simpler.

“We communicate with our environment 24 hours a day. The position in which we sleep, the way we wake up, the way we look, the expression on our faces, the posture, the way we walk, the way we behave, the color and shape of our clothes, shiny and bulky or decent jewelry, interior design, bulky and excessively decorated furniture or Scandinavian minimalism, all this says something about us… even the place we choose at the table is not random – we express something with every movement, smile and picture on the wall. We make something known, even when we remain silent and do not answer the question. We can’t help communicating… Does communication have anything to do with tourism and design?”

Antonio Vlahov, expert in family accommodation, “Good communication leads to a successful tourist story”

Damir Novotny, economic analyst, “Which forms of tourism and which added values of the tourist offer create good economic results?”

Alex Tessin, communication trainer and translator for German, English, Slovenian and Croatian, “How does space communicate with tourism?”

Tatjana Kos, director of the Design District Fair, “The interior of a tourist facility – what does it say and how can it increase occupancy?”

Stijepo Vezilić, Direct booker, “Do you want to become a successful landlord?”

Bruno Glavan, Nivago, “Digital marketing – a powerful means of communicating with guests”

Tina Durašić, PBIRO, “Possibilities and opportunities for tourism development with funds from EU funds”

The participants of the round table are well-known names from Croatian tourism and television, tourism workers, representatives of service providers and guests as representatives of the group that consumes their services. We want to hear the opinion of everyone who participates in it and find out if we are a hospitable people, and if we are not, why we are not.

Host: Alex Tessin

Everyone has already found themselves in a situation where tourist workers amazed them with their service, knowledge and skill, as well as in a situation where they did a lot of things wrong, were unhelpful and arrogant. Why are we sometimes ready to forgive and tolerate inappropriate behavior as a human factor and say ‘it can happen to anyone’, and why do we sometimes characterize such a person or incident as unprofessional behavior and rudeness? What depends on whether we complain or forget what happened? What factors are responsible for our satisfaction and dissatisfaction? Receptionist himself, parking, lobby, waiter, beach, food, furniture? Or something else entirely? What drives our guest to feel good, happy and satisfied and to come back one day?
